You don’t necessarily need to change your moisturizer, but you may want to use a little less of it during the summer. Some of us, however, especially those with oilier skin types, might want to find something to help balance extra oil production due to the heat and humidity. Sweat and extra sebum may cause clogged pores and breakouts. Also, I would ditch the foundation and powder unless you have an event to attend. That stuff is too heavy for the summer. If you need the coverage or just want to even out the tone of your skin, the perfect remedy is a tinted moisturizer. For drier skin, use a base serum or moisturizer and then put the tinted moisturizer on top. For the oiler skin types, use the tinted moisturizer alone and you’re set! Many brands now carry tinted moisturizers, so you really can find what you need for your specific skin type. I love Stila’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer for a toned, dewy look that gives you a natural glow. Tarte’s Smooth Operator has ingredients like chamomile, vitamins A, C and E, and sodium hyaluronate that are great for your skin and it has great coverage. And one that all my girlfriends love is Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer. To top it all off, these guys all have SPF in them. You can be kind to your skin and let it breathe while still looking like perfection!
