I don’t know what we ever did before the invention of the shower puff.  We all own one, whether you are a woman or  a man, a teenager or adult.  These brilliant, yet simple puffs of mesh have become part of our daily routine in getting “so fresh and so clean-clean.”  Did you know, however, these guys can be the dirtiest, most bacteria infested items in your bathroom (well it depends on if you live with the same girls I do…)?

When we shower, the bathroom becomes steamy and filled with moisture.  This moisture sits in the air and inside the shower, which becomes a breeding ground for bacteria growth.  If you don’t believe me, don’t clean your bathtub/shower for a while; you’ll see a buildup of some unsightly growth.  And most of us leave our puffs sitting in the shower to air dry, constantly being exposed to the moisture trapped in the shower.  Over time, the thing we use to wash ourselves may very well be making us more dirty.

Don’t worry, though; there is no need to toss out those shower puffs just yet.  Keeping these guys clean and sanitary is as simple as tossing them in the wash as regularly as you would towels and rags.  Be sure to air dry them (in a dry room) afterwards.  This simple trick will keep the puff doing its job until it’s time to replace it with a new one a few months later.
