I can’t say enough about the concept of “smart makeup.” With the tireless innovations of the beauty industry, they’ve brilliantly thought up makeup that is infused with the goodness of the technology in those SPF, anti-aging and firming creams – and it just keeps getting better. I’ll be sporadically (I always think of “Clueless” when I say that word) posting reviews on these products. The latest thing to cross my radar is Anastasia’s Illumin8 With Youthful Synergy Complex Eye Shadow Palette.
My friend Melanie has been allergic to nickel for as far back as she can remember. Wearing any jewelry with this type of metal has always caused her to have skin reactions. Melanie was able to make trips to the dermatologist an infrequent event by being careful to avoid wearing anything with nickel in it, and that worked well until last year. She found herself with this inexplicable rash on her lower abdomen that just would not go away. She finally made an appointment.
In my last post, I discussed the first line of defense in tackling those pesky red pimples that always show up at the most inconvenient times. Treating the redness is only a temporary fix, however, and so the the second line of defense is healing the pimple. I have a few tricks that I use which work well for me, but if you’ve found success with a treatment – stick with it !
Generally, I’m not a fan of a lot of over the counter spot treatments. I find that they irritate my skin and mostly worsen the blemishes. Whenever using salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, my pimples tend to become larger, redder and take much longer to heal. So instead, one of the treatments I use comes from Lush. Lush’s Fresh Pharmacy is a facial soap that is good for oily skin types. While too drying for washing my entire face with, I have found that it does make a great spot treatment. Read more…
No matter who you are – young or old, male or female – having a pesky, red pimple is not hot. I was reminded of that the other day when one sabotaged my plans for looking fabulous. And unfortunately, those are often the type you have to ride out over the course of a few days. That’s why I have a couple tricks I use to get me through those embarrassing days. Read more…
Hello everyone – SmartSkin101 is back! For a number of reasons, the site has been without updates for some time. I hope you accept my apologies and from now on you can look forward to more regular postings! If you’ve read previous articles, you will have noted that I am a huge fan of oil and all its great skin benefits. Just the other day I was once again reminded of how useful kitchen cabinet items can be when looking for DIY remedies.
The exfoliation of topical dead skin aids the turnover of skin cells. And when your skin – whether on your face or elsewhere on your body – begins to look dull, or even flaky, finding the right exfoliating regimen will help your skin get its glow back. There are many ways you can shed those dead skin cells with the myriad of products on the market. I’ll delve further into those products in upcoming posts, but today I will focus on an ‘au natural’ tip. Read more…
As mentioned in my previous posting, Light the Way, LED light therapy has been making a splash in the world of cosmetic gizmos and gadgets. Developed by NASA, this technology has made its way into the cosmetic industry for non-invasive beauty treatments. Red light therapy is used for an anti-aging regimen, focusing on skin firming and wrinkle reduction. For the treatment of acne, the blue light therapy is used to kill bacteria, thereby healing existing acne and preventing future breakouts. If after having read my earlier article you are still interested in trying one of these DIY treatments, skinstore.com (where you can also find reviews from purchasers) is offering both products at a reduced rate for a limited time only. The Evis MD Platinum Red is now priced at $236 (regularly $295), while the Evis MD Platinum Blue is selling for $209 (regularly $295). If you’re interested in purchasing both, the Duo comes at a regular price of $442.50.
From the creators of the Ageless Beauty Marvel-Mini, Evis MD Platinum is the most powerful hand-held device on the market. It uses highly advanced LED (Light Emitted Diode) technology developed by NASA scientists. By utilizing specific wavelengths, Evis MD Platinum is able to target specific problem areas. Suitable for most skin types, treatments are completely safe, non-invasive and require no post-treatment down time. LED therapy stimulates the natural healing process of the skin, in a process similar to that of photosynthesis.
